ETHICON INTERCOAT* Absorbable Adhesion Barrier Gel is an absorbable adhesion barrier gel used to prevent the cycle of adhesions in women. It is an easy to use gel that allows for precision placement and is efficacious in use.

Surgery causes adhesions despite good surgical technique. However, adhesion barriers are a proven method in reducing post surgical adhesions1. ETHICON INTERCOAT* is intended for use as an adjunct to peritoneal surgery for reducing the incidence, extent and severity of postoperative adhesions at the surgical site.

It allows for application in one single layer to the traumatised tissue thus creating a temporary barrier during the healing process. It is made up through a combination of Polyethylene Oxide (PEO) and Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), which is stabilised with Calcium and made isotonic through the use of Sodium Chloride.

It is supplied in two sterile syringes. Thanks to its long shaft, the applicator is ideal for use in laparoscopic procedures.
